At Lake Technology I moved from individual research engineering toward leading product and engineering delivery for high-performance digital audio. The work centred on digital loudspeaker processing: precise linear-phase crossovers, log-scale filter synthesis, and the control software that operators relied on in the field.

The Lake Contour brought this processing into a product that live-sound engineers could deploy and tune at large venues.

A key part of the work was making the underlying signal processing usable, giving engineers direct, visual control over equalisation and crossovers.

The techniques developed in this period were documented in a series of Audio Engineering Society papers on practical linear-phase crossovers, raised-cosine equalisation, and log-scale filter synthesis, co-authored with David McGrath and Bruce Jackson.
